In response to the Corona pandemic, TNO investigated in November 2020 whether extra ventilation in neighborhood buses with a cough screen, can achieve a comparable aerosol level and degree of particle dilution as in the regional buses. The question was also whether an alternative filter (ASPRA or HEPA) could provide support for this.
In the study, the ASPRA Aura air purifier was used to measure the effect of an electrostatic air purifier on the aerosol concentration. This was measured in different setups in different buses.
Results:
- ASPRA air purification achieves a strong reduction in the aerosol concentration in the bus
- ASPRA air purification + exhaust fans ensures a large reduction in particle level
- ASPRA air purification is suitable for greatly reducing the aerosol concentration
